Walkathon for World Environment Day

C. P. R. Environmental Education Centre (CPREEC) is a centre of excellence of the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India, is established jointly by the Ministry and the C. P. Ramaswami Aiyar Foundation.

CPREEC along with Radiocity 91.1 FM is organising a ‘Walkathon’ between Gandhi Statue and Anna Memorial at Chennai Marina Beach on World Environment Day June 5 at 9 a.m.

Chennai Mayor Ma. Subramanian will be the Chief Guest. He will inaugurate the event by flagging off the Walkathon near Gandhi Statue, Marina Beach. Other invitees include Dr. S. Ve. Shekher, M.L.A. of Mylapore Constituency, NGOs representatives, volunteers and prominent environmentalists.

1000 students from corporation and private schools who are a part of Green School Initiative will also participate in the event along with general public, NGOs, etc.
This is an initiative to promote awareness about the various environmental issues faced in the Chennai City today.
