Celebration at a less- known temple in Alwarpet

Few people know about this  temple that has been housed for the last 7 years  in a 100- year-old building on Bheemana Mudali Street, Alwarpet.

This is the  Laxmi Narasimha Temple. The place where it now stands now was earlier being used for Bhajan Mandali events.

It became a temple for Lord Lakshmi Narasimhar about 7 years ago, says R. Rangarajan, a volunteer at the temple.

There are sannidhis for Sriranga Mannar Perumal and Andal. The icon of Lakshmi Narasimhar is placed on a well  and, according to R. Ramanujam achariar it can only be attributed to Lakshmi Narasimhar’s sankalpam.

The photo shows the Uyyaalay utsavam of Andal (where she is placed on a palanquin) during the Aadi Pooram festival and the icons of Srirangamannar and Andal are taken in a procession by devotees whose rhythmic way of bearing the pallakku is something unique, adds Rangarajan.
