Police arrest youths who raced on San Thome High Road

The Foreshore Estate police have arrested twelve youth for being part of a motorcycle racing group which raced on the main roads like San Thome High Road.

These races are said to be held every Sunday. The races start from the Adyar/ ECR side and ends at the War Memorial.

The arrests were made on August 9.

The arrests follow action that was prompted by the top police officer of the city after a young man lost his life when some racers ran into him in San Thome on July 25.

The victim of the road race accident was Joe Vimal Peter (29). a resident of San Thome. He passed away on August 5 after being in coma for over two weeks.

The top police officer has asked his men to take severe action against those indulging in such road races which pose a great danger to people and motorists.
