Police intend to effect changes in temple zone to improve conditions

Chennai City Traffic Police are taking a close look at the traffic trends around Sri Kapali Temple tank and plan to effect changes in the days to come.

He said that there are plans to regulate the traffic flow in the streets surrounding the temple tank.

Police are also studying the trends on the busy R. K. Mutt Road. Though some changes were effected some time ago, chaos reigns here at peak hours.

Vijayendran said that they intend to enforce only ‘one side parking’ and have requested the Chennai Corporation officials of Zone 10 to remove the street hawkers.

M. Ravi, Joint Commissioner of police for Traffic told Mylapore Times that police intend to make R. K. Mutt Road a ‘model road’.

There will be proper pavements, signboards and smart bus stops and encroachments will be removed.

In the past, such issues have been debated but the problems have continued.
Some Mylaporeans feel that a ‘one way only’ system can be tried out on the mada streets.
