140 policemen of the Mylapore district were deployed to take care of the security at the three-day teppam fest of Sri Kapali Temple.
They were supervised by Asst. Commissioner Eashwara Murthy, Inspector J. Christopher and Sub-Inspector G.Kathik.
Personnel of the Fire Service were also at hand; they had deployed some boats too which could be used in case of an accident.
They also arranged for 20 fishermen to stand by in case of an emergency. Following a recent tragedy in the tank where a youth lost his life, the police and firemen wanted to on their guard.
