After a record 30 years of service at Savithri Ammal Oriental Higher Secondary  School, Mylapore, S. Manimegalai  retired from her position as Head Mistress.

N. Kalyanasundaram, DEO, Central Chennai was the chief guest. Also present were G. Swaminathan, former headmaster of the school and Daya Balu, member of the management committee.

S Manimegalai started her service at the school in 1921, she rose to become the HM in 1986. Backed with degrees like BA from Nirmala College, Coimbatore, an MA from Queen Mary’s College, Madras, B.Ed from Lady Wellington College, Chennai and

It was never an 8-6 job for her and she stayed on to help children who needed more attention and also for slow learners before the 10th and 12th standard exams.
