Srimathi aged 17, committed suicide by hanging herself at her grandparents house in Nochikuppam near Marina Beach on Tuesday, May 22.
According to police the girl was a resident of Thalathalai Kuppam in Kalpakkam and had come to her grandparents house for vacation. She got her Plus Two results on Tuesday morning and was not happy with her marks.
In the evening when her grandparents and relatives left the house to spend time at the beach, she committed suicide.
A case has been registered with the Marina Police Station.
