Independence day events: send us your photos

Independence day will be celebrated in various institutions in Mylapore on August 15. Here is a listing of a few events which were made public.

Indian Bank, Mylapore Branch in co-ordination with Sankara Netralaya, is organising a free eye check-up camp for its senior citizen customers.

It will be held between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at its premises.

It is located at Indian Bank, North Mada Street, Mylapore.

Andhra Mahila Sabha, R. A. Puram is organsing a march past by the students of  Durgabai Deshmukh General Hospital school of Nursing and cultural event by special children of IPD Orthopedic centre special school.

It will be held from 9 a.m. onwards.

RD. Pandalai, Chief Andhra Bank, Adyar Branch will be the chief guest.

CIT Colony Park Group, CIT Colony, is organising a music program from 7 a.m. onwards at the local park/playground.

Dr. MGR-Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women, R. A. Puram campus will resound with the patriotic songs in English and Tamil to be performed by the students. This will take place from 8.10 a.m. onwards. V. Balachandran, IPS, Retd. DGP of Police Chennai will be the chief guest.

P. S. Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, R. K. Mutt Road, will hold a function at which scholarships will be given to students. Events start at 9.20 a.m.

V. Mathivannan, President of Parent Teacher Association of the school and official of Kumbakonam Mutual Fund Ltd., will be the chief guest.

The Children’s Garden School, Mylapore will have a flag hoisting ceremony at 8 a.m. followed by a skit and Tamil poetry recitation, written by students of the school.

A School, Alwarpet centre, a playschool will have its kids presenting patriotic songs  followed by short speeches; from 9 a.m. onwards.
