Muslim bodies gathered at the Alwarpet flyover junction on the busy TTK Road on Wednesday evening ( Jan.23) to protest against the film ‘Vishwaroopam’ starring actor Kamal Hassan and produced by his company.
Raising slogans and holding placards and flags they stood out the office of the actor producer next to Samco Hotel and said that the film denigrated Muslims.
Later, police arrested the protestors.
Now, the state has banned the screening of the film in the state.
The film has been in the news for many weeks now since Kamal Hassan’s move to screen the movie first on a DTH platform. Its screening was postponed twice. It was to have been released next week, first in theatres and then on the DTH platform.
Kamal uses what used to be the family’s home on Eldams Road as his work and office space.
