The car procession took place on June 6, Saturday evening at the National Shrine of St. Thomas in San Thome to signal the end of the annual feast of this saint. Hundreds of people took in this celebration. Leading the Mass was Rev. George Antonysamy, archbishop of diocese of Madras-Mylapore.
Prayers in honour of this saint, revered as the patron of India were said daily the past 7 days.
The saint is believed to have lived and preached in this area of the country and killed and first buried in San Thome.
