Corporation plans to widen San Thome High Road; properties to be acquired

Chennai Corporation has included San Thome High Road in the list of busy city roads which must be widened in order to take the increasing traffic on the road. Plans here suggest that a few metres on either side of the road will have to be acquired in order to widen it. This means that portions of properties belonging mostly to private people will be notified and taken over for the project.

It is not clear if the road widening will cover the entire stretch of the road. The section from the CSI School for the Deaf to Lazarus Church Road end is not wide enough to handle the traffic now which is high because it is a key link road in this part of the city.

Corporation seems to have made preliminary work on the project.
