Masi-magam event keeps a low profile

This was not a rousing colourful event but one which kept its date with religious calendar. The annual masi-magam celebration held this Thursday morning was a quiet and quick one for many local temples. At Sri Kapali Temple, the images of the lord and his consort were decorated, deepa-aradhana performed and a procession taken around the temple campus. The procession then went around the mada streets and on to Kutchery Road and to San Thome High Road, before heading to the Marina beach and to the seashore.

The deities were then moved out of the palanquin and symbolically dipped in the sea, returned to the palanquin and the processionists got back to the temple.
