K. N. Sheik Dawood, a retired revenue department official in Tamil Nadu state govenrment service, passed away on Sep 22 at the age of 79. He was a resident of M. R. C. Nagar.
A native of Orathanad, Thanjavur district, he graduated in science from Presidency College, Chennai. He was an athlete and sportsperson and represented his college and state in basketball.
He entered govt. service in 1959 and worked in various capacities as tahsildar, revenue divisional officer and finally retired as district revenue officer and Addl. District Magistrate, Erode in 1994.
“I had the opportunity to work under officers who at some point of time worked as subordinates to my father. They always recollected his efficiency, knowledge, sharp memory and helpful tendency,” says his son Siraj, currently serving as tahsildar in Thiruvallur District.
