S. V. Shekher goes to court to seek personal security by state

Actor-politician S. V. Shekher, a resident of Mandavelipakkam has gone to court to seek armed protection be given by the state, citing personal attacks made via social media and on his house. He says that despite asking the Police Commissioner for security, it has not been provided to him.

Shekher says that as a member of Censor Board he was part of the team which denied certification for a locally-made Tamil film which touches on a Sri Lankan Tamil militant and is said to carry a video excerpt of TN chief minister J. Jayalalithaa. Since than, Shekher says the verbal and mailed attacks, threats and barbs have been severe.

The Madras High Court has asked the actor to formally communicate to the Police Commissioner his security needs and set a date by which the request is addressed to.

In the past, miscreants have thrown stones and bottles at Shekher’s house in Mandavelipakkam.
