Tamil play Perumale reaches 100 shows; performance today at Narada Gana Sabha

The 100th show for Madhuvanthi Arun and Theatre of Maham’s play Perumale, will be performed today, Jan 19, at Narada Gana Sabha, Alwarpet at 6.30 p.m. It is the 100th show for a next generation Tamil drama troupe, which is less than 5 years old. K. J. Yesudas will preside over the function and the chief guests include Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetty, Mouli, Kumari Shobana, Thiruselvam and music director Deva.
In addition, other artistes in the drama field including, ARS and Y. G. Mahendra will be present.

A full length comedy drama, the play presents Goddess Gajalakshmi Thaayar in an argumentative dialogue with Lord Venkatesa Perumal on how His devotees pray to Him only for materialistic gains & pleasures in life, full of expectations without any gratitude for what they already have been blessed with. Perumal refutes this accusation and challenges that He will prove Her wrong. The play goes on to show how Lord Venkatesa comes down to the Earth to stay with His devotees Aandal & Govind in their house and lives with them to observe their day today lives.
