S. Srinivasan passed away on Apr 3. He was a retired professor and former head of EE at IIT madras. For over four decades he was a teacher and mentor to students at IIT and universities at USA. R. Kamala, former teacher at Lady Sivaswamy Girls School passed away on Mar 27. Kamala, M.Sc., M.Ed., was a resident of Mylapore and Alwarpet for more than 65 years.
She was a teacher of Mathematics at Lady Sivaswamy Ayyar Girls’ Higher Secondary school from 1966 to her retirement in 1995. After retirement, she became the first Coordinator and Director of the Computer section started by the school management.
‘She was an eager and enthusiastic participant in various extra curricular activities of the school including sports and stage plays and even acted in a few dramas’, say her family. She instituted several endowments at her school, the proceeds from which have benefited many students over the years.
She is survived by her husband M.N. Venkateeswaran, her daughter Thangam (a student of the same school) and several family members. Her family can be contacted on 24357561.
