Mylapore police have reported that in two days just recently, two impostors were arrested in Mylapore. One was a ‘fake’ Sub Inspector and the other faked himself as a District Revenue Officer.
Deputy Commissioner of Police V. Balakrishnan says, “I think the lack of awareness among the public about the designations and postings about various departments of the government is one of the reasons for the mushrooming of imposters. Either the awareness is very poor or it is excessive to the extent that some elements start misusing the same. The knowledge about designations and the rank structure about police is also very poor.”
