Racing – still very common on arterial roads

Dr. R. K. Salai has been cited as one of the stretches where racing – on bikes and auto rickshaws- has become very common. Age seems to be no bar, and youngsters and middle aged men alike seem to find it exciting to race down such roads when traffic is light – generally on weekends. Racers usually compete for cash prices, which may amount to thousands of rupees. Police have become very vigilant, with check posts being setup at intervals along such roads.
