On the eve of Diwali, several small cracker shops have sprung up in various parts of the neighbourhood. Temporary structures manned by one or two salesmen and stocked with fast selling items like sparklers, rockets, and flower pots were seen on Devanathan Street at Mandaveli, Karpagambal Nagar (off Luz Church Road) and near the Jain Temple on Kutchery Road.
At the TUCS Kamadhenu Cooperative Store at R. A. Puram (seen in the picture), children and their parents were seen shopping for crackers together. The store, which is located opposite Bill Roth Hospitals, will be open till 10 p.m. today (Oct 28) and tomorrow. A discount of upto 10% is offered on all purchases.
