Documentary about M. S. Subbulakshmi re-released

An award winning documentary produced in 1997, by the Ministry of External Affairs-Public Diplomacy- is being revisited and highlighted for viewers during the Birth centenary of M. S. Subbulakshmi.

‘Nauka Caritramu’ pays tribute to three women artists of the Carnatic music tradition of South India – M. S. Subbulakshmi, D. K. Pattammal and Tanjore Brinda. The film explores their music, their life experiences and their devotion towards their music.
Directed by Saroj Satyanarayan, the documentary received two National Awards for the Best Producer & Direction of Documentary in 1997. The film was invited to feature in the Indian Panorama of Indian International Festival –1998 , London Film Festival-1998 , International Film Festival- Singapore –1999, Festiviana’, 2000 Portugal, 2000 Cinema & Literatura FAMAFEST, and Famalicao.
