ATMs continue to be ‘lifeless’ on Friday morning – they have not been activated as yet.
And people who have been affected by the demonestisation of the currency notes ( Rs.500 and Rs.1000) and wanted to access the ATMs were told by staffers at banks this morning that while the ATMs have been loaded with new currency notes, the network of operations is not functioning yet.
When the local banks opened for business this morning, there were hardly any queues outside their gates – of people keen to deposit the ‘old’ notes and get notes of Rs.100 denomination.
“Operations have been smooth,” said one bank officer at a local bank.
Another said that the ATMs will come to life soon.
