V. Balakrishnan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mylapore has been promoted to the post of Deputy Inspector General of Police.
His area of jurisdiction is not known yet, police sources say that it may take a few more days for those details to get finalised.
He will now be equal to the joint commissioner in rank and may supervise two or more SPs (Superintendent of Police) and may head more than one district, add police sources.
