Four injured in car accident; Portion of wall of Chief Justice’s residence collapses

The Adyar traffic investigation wing police have arrested a call taxi driver for having rammed the car he was driving into the compound wall of Madras High Court Chief Justice Indira Banerjee’s official bungalow at Greenways Road, R. A. Puram.

According to the police, M. Iyappan, 30, was drunk when he was driving the vehicle. The car also hit four people walking nearby before hitting the wall. A part of the wall collapsed on impact.

His uncle Velayutham, a security guard at a private firm in Adyar, who was in the vehicle at that time has also been arrested.

The injured were sent to the Government Hospital at Royapettah by police personnel.
