Garden kutcheri draws a good crowd; Abhiramapuram

20170625172331_IMG_1964On June 25, Sunday, the sun had gone behind the clouds, the temperature had dropped to a comfortable level and a light breeze made it a very pleasant evening. About 20 people had gathered at a house on C. P. Ramaswamy Road to listen to Ahi Ajayan, a budding vocal music singer.

The garden is located in the backyard of a house which is the office of Indira Ranganathan Trust. A small platform has been erected at one end to serve as a stage. The rest of the garden, covered with grass, has chairs and some blankets for the audience to sit.

The event is part of a garden series curated by Sunaadalahari, the musical wing of Indira Ranganathan Trust. It is a platform for young musicians to find a place to showcase their talents. It was formed by Indira Ranganathan in memory of her husband; both were veena renowned veena artistes.

Sunaadalahari has been conducting concerts here for a few months; more events have been planned in the future too. For more details check out their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Sunaadalahari/
