Families do not make kozhukattais at home anymore. Most of them. And so, in Mylapore many caterers and food services make them and take orders on the eve of Sri Vinayaka Chathurthi.
Workers and cooks at the popular Mami’s Mess on Pitchu Street in Mylapore ( in the shadow of Sri Kapali Temple) are busy making thousands of kozhukattais to cater to the orders that are keeping the Mess phone ringing.
This morning we saw the staff sitting around to make the kozhukattais – both spicy and sweet types – are on sale.
