SRI KAPALI TEMPLE, MYLAPORE: Goddess Karpagambal will adorn a different alangaram every evening till Sep 30. Highlights include the saraswathi alangaram on Sep 23, maheswari alangaram on Sep 25, raja rajeswari alangaram on Sep 26 and the mahishasura mardini alangaram on Sep 28. On Sep 30, the deity will be taken on a veedi purappadu on the kuthirai vahanam. A thirumanjanam will be held for the deity (moolavar) everyday. Music and dance programmes will be held in the evening everyday.
SRI KARANEESWARAR TEMPLE, MYLAPORE: The Navarathri festival is on till Sep 30 at this temple. Goddess Porkodi Amman will adorn the meenakshi alangaram on Sep 27 and mahishasura mardini alangaram on Sep 28. Shiva pooja and kamba nadi alangaram will be on Sep 29. Parvettai vizha will be held on Sep 30.
SRI RAMAKRISHNA MATH, MYLAPORE: Special poojas will be held on Sep 29 and 30. On Sep 29, a Sri Saraswathi sahasranama kumkum and pushpa archanai will be held in the evening followed by a talk on devi mahatmyam and an aarti to Sri Durga Devi. On Vijayadashami, Sep 30, a chandi pooja will be held in the morning followed by a visarjan pooja.
LADY SIVASWAMI GIRLS SCHOOL, MYLAPORE: Saraswathi pooja will be celebrated on Sep 28. 150 underprivileged students will receive blouse pieces and 9 girls will receive pavadais. A religious discourse will be held on that day.
SRI KARPAGA VINAYAKAR TEMPLE, KARPAGAM AVENUE: The Karpagam Avenue Satsangh at R. A. Puram is organising a music and dance festival till Sep 30 at the Karpaga Vinayakar Temple there. Highlights include bharatanatyam recitals by disciples of Srekala Bharath and Dr. Sujatha Mohan, keyboard concerts, hindustani bhajans and more. 6 p.m. onwards. Ph: 42658594, 9840049389.
