The Samskrta Academy, based at Thiru Vi Ka Road, Mylapore, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. Bibek Debroy, chairman, economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India and member, Niti Aayog, New Delhi will inaugurate the year long celebration on Jan 21 at the Madras Sanskrit College, Mylapore. Bharatanatyam guru Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam will give the key note address.
Three books, ‘Gitamrtamahodadhi’ by (late) Viswanatha Sastri, ‘Rahasyatrayasara’ of Sri Vedanta Desika with English translation by N. Raghunathan, former chief secretary of Maharashtra, and ‘Tamraparni Mahatmya’ with Tamil translation by A. R. Ganapathi Sastri will be released on that day. At 10 a.m.
