Church offers ‘hundials’ to parishioners to raise money for charity during Lent

The Lenten season in the Christian calendar is a time for reparation, reflection and charity; a time when Christians also reflect on events leading to the death of Jesus on a cross.

The season started last Wednesday.

At Our Lady of Guidance Church on Lazarus Church Road, Mandavelipakkam the community and priests have come up with a simple idea to motivate families during Lent.

Small, coloured ‘piggy bank’ containers are offered to parishioners to take home where they can drop off money from time to time to raise donations for charity.

The ‘hundial’ at home will be returned to the church next month and the money used for the poor students of this parish.
