MRC Nagar to get a new storm water drain

The residents of MRC Nagar have been dealing with water logging issues during the monsoon season for quite a few years now. They are hoping the new storm water drain being laid by the Corporation will provide a little respite.

Executive Engineer, K. Varadarajan, Zone 13 says, “Stormwater drains are being cleaned in most areas. The head office has taken up the project of laying new drains at MRC Nagar and R. K. Nagar 2nd Cross Street. Whenever it rains, the water from MRC Nagar goes through San Thome High Road, near the Ayyappan Temple and then joins the creek. That is a very long route resulting in frequent obstructions to the free flow of water. Work is therefore on to construct a new drain which will be connected to the creek at the rear end of the colony”.

He continues, “In other areas in Mylapore and R. A. Puram too the drains are being desilted. Wherever necessary, the doors are being replaced too. We hope to complete the desiliting work by the end of October”.
