Civic contract workers were seen working throughout Sunday on Lazarus Church Road on a local project to relay the Metro Water pipeline here.
A supervisor at the spot on Sunday evening said that a new line had been laid from the west end to the east end up to the junction at San Thome High Road.
While an excavator kept digging up the soil at one end, workers were relaying the pipeline in parts from the other end and then closing the dug portions.
The road though was in a mess, as this photo shot near Our Lady of Guidance Church shows.
It is not yet known why this project has been initiated.
