Senior dancer Lakshmi Vishwanathan highlighted late Bharatanatyam guru K J Sarasa’s place in the classical dance world, saying her dance academy is among the few in this region which has produced a big number of dancers who have a reputation of their own.
Lakshmi was one of the guests at the second day of the ’70 years of Sarasalaya’ fest at Bhavans, Mylapore which saw a few dance recitals this Sunday evening. Sarasalaya is the dance academy that Sarasa managed.
Among them were artistes Ramli Ibrahim and Geetha from Malaysia and actor Suhasini Maniratnam who learnt dance under Sarasa.
