Elections 2019: AIADMK keeps South Chennai, candidate could be named by weekend

The AIADMK is said to have told BJP, its ally that it will not part with the South Chennai seat which it holds now.

And the buzz is that the BJP has given upon its demand.

This means that the AIADMK team which has screened all its applicants for this constituency, some 30 plus – the lowest for the three city constituencies in terms of applicants in the party – will sit to choose its candidate.

It seems fairly certain that sitting MP, Dr J Jayavardan will be chosen to seek a second term, going by his record and the strength of the party in this zone.

AIADMK cadres here say that the MP’s team has already drawn up notes to be printed in handbills that will go out from day one of the campaign.
