The DMK’s candidate for South Chennai for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Thamizhachi Thangapandian has opened the election campaign office in Saidapet – this area falls under this constituency which also covers the Mylapore neighbourhood.
A resident of East Coast Road, Thamizhaachi who is a poet and public speaker and hails from a family of DMK members has been warding off the first set of criticism that she too has been a beneficiary of ‘dynastic’ politics ( her father was a senior DMK leader and her brother a MLA and minister).
She says it is not as if she has been popped up for the occasion and that she has been an active party member for many years.
She has also said that some key civic projects in the Velachery-Sholinganallur area are being put up by people as projects that a new MP must address.
