The DMK’s Dayanidhi Maran, the PMK’s Sam Paul, MNM’s Kameela Nasser and SDPI’s Sheik Baqavi are the key candidates who are contesting in the Chennai Central constituency. ( some parts of Mylapore neighbourhood fall under this umbrella).
Naam Tamilar has also fielded a candidate here.
Maran was MP from here in 2004 and 2009 but lost in the 2004 poll.
PMK, the AIADMK’s ally, has fielded Sam Paul who is a entrepreneur-businessman with many interests and has been with the party for a few years now. He says he led a team to help people in the 2015 floods.
Kameela has been with Kamal Haasan’s party from its founding.
