For a few weeks now, Thaligai restaurant on Luz Church Road, Alwarpet has been maintaining a community fridge called ‘Jeevandan’.
It invites people staying in its area who wish to provide food for the needy to come by and leave behind fruits, cooked food, water dry foodstuff in this fridge.
“The fridgehis was donated by one of our guests. We always keep our leftover food after lunch or dinner inside the fridge. A few other restaurants also drop off their food here,” says Nalina Kannan, MD of Thaligai.
A staff of the restaurant says, “Hawkers and poor people near Nageswara Rao Park come and take the food immediately after we keep it here.”
The fridge is kept at the entrance of Thaligai restaurant.
