EFI paints the wall of Thiru-Vi-Ka bridge

In order to spread awareness regarding the endangered species of birds that used to be there at Adyar river and in the neighbouring region, the workers of the Environmentalist Foundation of India (EFI) are painting the wall of the Thiru-Vi-Ka bridge with this theme.

Now, paintings of birds like the greater flamingo, woodpeckers, pied kingfisher, painted stork and more are drawn on the wall of this bridge that runs over the Adyar river.

“We took up this activity to spread awareness regarding the birds that have got endangered from this area because of the damage that people have caused to the rivers and lakes,” says S. Chiranjeevi, CSR manager of EFI.

“We started this activity a few days ago after getting permission from Chennai Corporation’s bridges department. We are also is planning to paint the walls in the entire stretch of the bridge with this theme,” he says.

Through this effort, the team also hopes to reduce the open urination that happens in this area.
