Kathak, Manipuri and Mohini Attam, all in one evening

Dancer-guru Sailaja’s annual dance festival presents a variety of dance forms of India. And day two of the fest held at Bhavans in Mylapore presented the spectrum – Bharatanatyam, Mohiniattam, Odissi, Manipuri and Kathak.

There was Ileana Citaristi, the Italian Odissi dancer who has settled down in Orissa, Roja Kannan from Chennai performing Bharatanatyam, Gopika Varma from Chennai presenting Mohiniattam, Ashim Bandhu performing Kathak ( seen in photo) and the Manipuri dancer with many awards to her name and from an illustrious arts family, Bimbavati Devi providing the audience something they rarely see on stage.

Sailaja’s fests aims to always present different forms of classical dance. This fest kept that promise. All this costs money and the fest got Ramco as one of its sponsors.
