Dhanagam is a small social and community reach-out project that works out of the Mylapore MLA’s office premises off C. P. Ramaswamy Road in Alwarpet.
Placed here is a retired container which was once used to transport goods on trucks which has been turned into a shop-space. Inside, donated clothes, footwear, white goods and books and toys are displayed.
Economically poor people come by and can pick up small numbers of goods they need.
Now, the store space needs to be stocked up. Says Kannuswamy who supports this project from the outside, ” We are asking Mylaporeans to donate clothes in good condition – for men, women and kids, toys and stationery school kids can use, home accessories in usable condition.”
