This resident says her Ugadi celebration was low key this year

The lockdown has affected the Telugu community’s Ugadi celebration this year. Akila. S, a resident of Loganathan Colony, Mylapore says that she missed having relatives and friends over today.

She says, “We couldn’t find the vepampoo (neem flowers) for a pachadi that we make during Ugadi and so we couldn’t make it this year. We also couldn’t get vegetables for some other traditional dishes and so we made dishes with whatever we could find and offered it as a naivedyam to the deity”.

We usually end the celebration with a visit to the temple, that too couldn’t be done this year, she adds.
