TV channel staff in Appu Street tests positive, checks on in campus of 96 flats. Streets barricaded.

Appu Street has been barricaded since last afternoon and news going around is that a person who works for a private Tamil TV channel who resided at Shanthi Flats was taken for tests.

Unconfirmed reports said that he was part of the many staff of the channel who were tested positive the previous day.

Some residents of Appu Street said that the man’s wife was also taken for tests.

The TV channel staff is a resident of E block of Shanthi Flats which has 6 blocks of 96 apartments here.

The health ministry officials arrived on Wednesday morning. They have asked all the vehicles to be taken out of flats, a resident told our contact. Sanitizing operations will follow.
All the residents of E Block will be tested.
The roads on either side of Shanthi Flats have been cordoned off and the residents would not even be able to go to Nadu Street which is just a few yards away.
Social media was full of photos of the development. This is a highly congested area of old Mylapore.
