State minister K. P. Anbalagan ( who handles the higher education portfolio) visited Ward 173 this morning ( June 10).
He oversees the city-level pandemic operations in the Adyar Zone ( zone 13) and the south end of Mylapore falls under this zone.
The minister was inside KVB Gardens, a hot zone for some weeks now and spent about 20 minutes here. Also present was former Member of Parliament, J. Jayavardan of the AIADMK and RDC of GCC, Dr Alby John.
The minister set off by giving a medicinal drink to some 40 people, then gave packs to some 8 – 10 handicapped people and told some residents gathered here that health screening camps would be held in this thickly habited place.
Residents here say that virus cases seem to have plateaued now though the strict c0nditions for a red zone are still in place, though now taken easy by people moving in and out freely.
