The Lazars in San Thome is one such family. Though the man of the family, Lazar Hirudayaswamy runs a automobile sales centre and his wife, Aagnes is a lawyer, their incomes have dropped over the past three months.
So Lazar put his cookery skills and love for food to work in his kitchen at his home located near the Registration Office. Mutton sukka and chicken curries. Close friends who ordered and consumed the dishes went wow and Lazar had launched his home made business.
Says Aagnes, “His inspiration is his paternal grandmother whom they lovingly called Appayee. That’s the name of our food business now. Of course, he also has recipes of his mom who was an excellent cook . .she is no more.”
To run a tight service, the Lazars put out their small menu 24 hrs before cooking the orders. “It ensures we don’t waste food. But there’s always extra to cater to sudden orders,” says Aagnes.
Lazar sticks to some special dishes which are in demand. Thala curry is one. Brain and chicken podimass is another. As is beef fry and beef curry. Vegetarian dishes are also on the menu. Prices range in the Rs.150 / Rs.175 bracket.
Food is home-delivered inside a 2 kms radius of San Thome. Elsewhere, you need to use services like Dunzo.
Large orders are also taken.
