We plan to re-open mall only when government allows theatres to re-open, says staff at Citi Centre mall

Although the state government in early September allowed malls to re-open with necessary precautions, the Citi Centre mall at Dr Radhakrishnan Salai in Mylapore is yet to reopen.

The mall that houses dozens of shops and movie screens across its five floors, closed soon after the lockdown in March and has remained shut since then.

Said a staff from the Marketing Department of the mall, “Most people visit our mall to watch films. So we are planning to re-open it only when the government allows cinema screenings in theatres.”

Meanwhile, regular mall users have been steadily dropping outside this mall, especially on weekends to check if it has re-opened.
