Big crowd on first Aadi Velli morning at Sri Kapali Temple

There was a long queue of people inside Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple this Friday morning on the occasion of the first Aadi Velli, considered to be sacred for goddess Karpagambal.

Through the morning, there was a constant inflow of devotees. Since people are not allowed to move around the prakara, they were asked to join a queue that took them along to the Singaravelar, Kapaleeswarar and Karpagambal sannidhis.

Devotees were also seen in good numbers outside the temple buying pooja items and flowers to present to  Ambal on this occasion.

The steady flow of people to the temple has warmed up the keepers of shops around the Mada Streets and Ponnambala Vadhiyar Street – the increased movement of people helps revive local businesses since people also tend to shop around a bit.

At 7pm this evening ( Friday), Sri Chandrasekarar will go on a procession inside the temple on the occasion of Pournami.
