The residents of Kallukaran Street in Mylapore organised a simple flag hoisting event on Independence Day, August 15.
The Indian flag was hoisted by the civic staff of Urbaser – the persons who clean the street .
A resident who got up this event said that after the flag hoisting, these civic workers had tears in their eyes and they said that though they are in this profession for ten years, this was the first time that a community had honoured them – they were also garlanded with shawls.
