Visiting bishop gets surprise visit from classmates at San Thome School

Some classmates keep warm friendships over many decades. And do not fail to renew them when occasions present themselves.

So when newly-appointed bishop of Port Blair, Rev. Visuvasam Selvaraj was visiting San Thome and R. A. Puram where he once lived and studied, his schoolmates made it a point to catch up with him.

Romeo and Bernard of the 1984 batch of San Thome School, from the commerce stream along with batchmate C R Balaji caught up with the bishop after an event the latter attended at the R. A. Puram church.

Bernard, who resides close to the church says that Rev. Selvaraj used to be based at the seminary which was then located opposite the San Thome Cathedral and attended the Plus Two course at San Thome School.

An anecdote that popped up at the meeting this week was how the reverend slipped our of the seminary and joined a few boys to watch a cricket match at Chepauk.

Bernard says the bishop has welcomed his classmates to visit the Andamans.
