Archbishop launches preparatory service of Synod at San Thome Cathedral

Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore diocese, Rev. George Antonysamy celebrated a special Mass at San Thome Cathedral on Monday, Oct.18 morning as a preparatory event for the Synod of the Church as directed by Pope Francis.

A large number of city priests, nuns and laity participated in the Mass, where Rev. Antonysamy explained what the Synod is to be and the role of the different sections of the Church in it.

The Synod  has been launched by the Pope and will run over two years from 2021, when the local churches, regional and international/papal level communities will discuss issues that affect the current church.

Issues raised at local / regional levels will be taken up at the Papal level
