Making people aware of cancer . . .

On the occasion of the World Cancer Day, Indian Medical Association (Chennai South) based out of Mylapore along with IMA-TNSB (Women Doctors Wing) jointly organised a webinar on Friday evening that provided insights on breast cancer and the roles and responsibilities of medical societies.

Talking to Mylapore Times, Chairperson of WDW, IMA – TNSB the 69 year old Dr. Santha Naraynan (https://www.mylaporetimes.com/2020/06/the-abiramapuram-doctor-who-enjoys-marathon-running-at-67-and-fitness-tops-her-lockdown-days/), who is also a fitness freak, said the event was organised to build cancer awareness among people.

“We conducted programmes that included pap smear testing and counselling, We also conducted a competition for children on this occasion.”

Experts from the field such as Dr M Sangeetha, senior onco-plastic surgeon, Gleneagles Global Hospital, Prof Shilpa Rao, in-charge of breast services, KEM Hospital spoke on the occasion.
