Tens of hundreds of people, mostly women took part in a procession early this Saturday morning ( April 16) as part of the Chithirai Pournami celebration at Sri Mundagakanni Amman Temple in Mylapore.
The 1008 paal kudam ( milk pots) event started at dawn at the temple, with women carrying small pots with milk joining the procession which went through a few streets around the temple zone and returned to the temple where abishekham was done to the goddess and prasadam was shared.
This is a regular traditional ritual that is held at this temple and on this weekend morning, this zone of Mylapore witnessed the prayers, music and chants of devotees who keep this day at the temple.
