State minister launches oxygen generator plant at St. Isabel’s Hospital

A oxygen generator plant, donated by Actionaid was formally inaugurated at St. Isabel’s Hospital in Luz on April 19.

The plant has a capacity of 250litres per minute making St. Isabel’s Hospital self sufficient in its oxygen requirements.

The plant was inaugurated by the state minister for health, M. Subramaniam in the presence of MLAs, Ezhilan and Dha. Velu  Other dignitaries included J. Radhakrishnan, state health secretary and the local  civic councillor.

Dr. Abel George, CEO of St. Isabel’s Hospital, Sr. Jessy Varghese, vice president, St. Isabel’s and Esther, associate director, Actionaid India were also present.

Said Dr Abel George, “Oxygen generators assumed significance in the wake of the Covid pandemic when there was significant shortage of oxygen. With the setting up of our oxygen plant, St. Isabel’s Hospital becomes self sufficient in its oxygen capacity with surplus. This facility can be used for treating more patients who require oxygen.”
